Recipe type: Drinks

Makes: 1 mug

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (250 mL) milk

  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL) cocoa powder

  • 2 tsp (10 mL) sugar

  • Marshmallows (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat milk over medium heat. Whisk in cocoa powder and sugar while the milk is heating, just until it starts to bubble and steam. (You don't want to let it boil, because it will boil over). Remove from heat and pour into a mug.

  2. Top with marshmallows, if desired.

Notes

For a spiced hot chocolate, whisk in 1 tsp cinnamon and ancho chili powder, to taste.

For a peanut butter hot chocolate, whisk in 1 tsp of peanut butter.
