I live and work on Treaty 7 Territory, which are the traditional homelands of the Niitsitapi/Blackfoot Confederacy (specifically the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut'ina, the Îyârhe Nakoda (consisting of the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations), and the Otipemsiwak Métis. I share this land acknowledgement as a way to show our commitment to learning Indigenous history and values, unlearning racist and colonialist beliefs and practices, collaborating with Indigenous peoples, and advocating for Truth and Reconciliation.
