Campfire Banana Boats

Campfire Banana Boats

When I posted a photo of these on Instagram, it was so popular that I knew I had to share the recipe. This recipe makes one banana boat - multiply up depending on how many campers you have to feed.

Author: Vincci Tsui, RD

Recipe type: Dessert, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free

Makes: 1

Ingredients

  • 1 banana

  • 4-5 squares of chocolate, about 1.5 oz, or 42 g - the friends who introduced this to me used Dairy Milk, but I would love to try this with dark chocolate, or maybe Caramilk or Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!

Instructions

  1. Leaving the peel on the banana, slice the banana length-wise, being sure not to pierce the skin on the other side, in order to create your "boat". Stuff the squares of chocolate into the banana.

  2. Place the bananas directly on the grill over top of the campfire (or over direct heat on the barbecue) and cook until the skin turns black, the chocolate has begun to soften, and the inside of the banana is starting to bubble.
